Sensing worsened flood situation in Kerala, Community Service Cell at Lovely Professional University is endeavoring to forward relief (monetary & material) worth Rs 10 Lakh to Kerala flood victims in the initial stage. For this, LPU Management alone has donated Rs 5 Lakh to the students’ donations raising team; whereas, students and staff members have also donated generously. Teams have also collected tons of direly needed things under “Joy of Giving” initiation. Relief-material is comprised of dry ration, bed-sheets, basic medicines, disinfectants, first-aid kits, diapers, mattresses, clothes, mineral water bottles and allied things.

Different LPU student groups have stood up for this humane cause and are co-operating to send maximum support in terms of cash and utilities. Organizing student-teams are constituted not only of Kerala students but also of NSS Volunteers, NCC cadets and other national-international students. Presently, 742 Kerala students are on rolls of LPU in different streams.

With a message of appealing goodness made to all students and staff members, LPU Pro-Chancellor Mrs Rashmi Mittal has emphatically conveyed: “It is dire need of the hour to come forward selflessly and accord help in every possible form to our fellow country in Kerala. We are happy to note that our selfless students have already started working on these lines. We implore all to help the Kerala people by donating as much as they can. Even a little contribution of yours can make a big deal for all the stranded and pained people in Kerala.”

People in Kerala have faced havoc from continuous torrential rains. Many of them have not only become homeless but are also starving and facing inhuman living conditions. Many lives have been lost and there is widespread destruction of property in the state. The material and money collected will be dispatched to the affected areas through government agencies. For making a donation, a donor can also visit Division of Student Welfare at LPU.
