It is a matter of great pleasure that faculty members Dr. Anil Kumar from the School of Mechanical Engineering and Dr. Jasbinder Singh from the School of Chemical Engineering and Physical Sciences delivered a talk on Periodic Table at Major R.N. Kapoor DAV Public Sr. Sec. School, Ambala Cantt on December 2, 2019. They also delivered the guest lecture at Tulsi Public Senior Secondary School and Tulsi College of Education, Ambala City on 3.12.2019.
Dr. Anil Kumar has explained the introduction of the periodic table, properties, and applications of elements in the field of applied science and engineering. Dr. Jasbinder Singh discussed how these elements chemically react in our body during inhalation. He also explained the reasons for the existence of elements at a fixed block.
The lecture was then followed by an activity session where students wholeheartedly participated. There were three activities namely Quiz, Vibranium problem, and Elemental Haiku. The Chairman and Director of Tulsi Public Senior Secondary School and Tulsi College of Education, Ambala City appreciated the session.
The talks were delivered on the occasion of 150th anniversary of Periodic Table which was discovered by Mendeleev Sir in 1869. The year 1869 is considered as the discovery of the Periodic Table and therefore, 2019 proclaimed as the International Year of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements (IYPT 2019) by UNESCO and United Nations General Assembly.
Lovely Professional University, in collaboration with the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, has successfully celebrated the 150th anniversary of periodic table at numerous schools.
