“Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection

Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way

Into the dreary desert sand of dead habit

Where the mind is led forward by thee

Into ever-widening thought and action

Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake.”

                                                                            Rabindranath Tagore

If ever there was such an awakening, it is now, and it is here at LPU, where knowledge and growth are the means and the ends of every endeavor. A student organization embodying just these values is Quantivier, an official venture under the Subra Innovation Line Group.

Quantivier organized LPU Independence Day celebrations at DSA yesterday. The crowd of the patriotic that arrived at the sunny hour of 9 a.m. ran upwards of 200. The celebrations started with flag hoisting by Chief Guest Director General Er.HR Singla . This was followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honor Senior Dean Dr. Monica Gulati.

The program then commenced with the NCC parade. It was a visual and emotional treat to see the smartly dressed young cadets march to patriotic tunes, eliciting cheers and applause from the audience. The parade was followed by a performance that may forever remain etched in the minds of all fortunate enough to witness it. A student performed the ‘Jwaladeep’ or yoga with a candle placed on his head. The act was as powerful as the patriotic sentiment behind its performance, and there weren’t many in the crowd who didn’t get goose bumps at the spectacle.

An energetic western dance performance followed the ‘jawaladeep’. The patriotic overtones, the enthusiasm and zeal of the performance, had the crowd tapping their feet and cheering. The short satiric skit that followed was as entertaining as it was thought provoking. Delivered in mature performances and powerful dialogues, it left the audience deeply introspective of the new age attitude to independence and its celebration.

The event culminated in rousing speeches from the dignitaries in attendance. D G Singla urged the crowd to steer clear of any substance abuse and never compromise our hard won freedom by being enslaved to drugs, alcohol or any other addiction. Dr.Sorabh Lakhanpal, Head, Division of Student Affairs, LPU concluded the event with a vote of thanks. He appreciated the students for the flawless organization of the day’s events and encouraged them to continue the good work.
