Division of International Affairs and Department of Foreign Languages at LPU have taken the initiative to offer ‘Chinese language’ to its students as an elective optional, becoming one of the leading university in Northern India to offer ‘Chinese’ as an additional language. For this, LPU has already appointed a Chinese teacher, Mr Yang Zhao, who is also pursuing PhD in English literature at LPU. LPU already offers German, Spanish, and French classes to its students.

Feeling immensely happy on the occasion, LPU Vice-Chancellor, Dr Ramesh Kanwar said, “Indo-China trade is growing phenomenally, as we see that many of the Chinese companies such as Oppo, Vivo, OnePlus, Sinosteel, TCL, Haier, Nippon paints and many more have opened their operations in India too. He further added, “This opportunity will greatly benefit our students as learning Chinese will help them not only to seek great jobs in China but as entrepreneurs, they can also work more closely with their Chinese clients.”

LPU will now offer learning the ‘Chinese language’ to its students

The Chinese teacher, Mr Yang Zhao expressing his views said, “I came to India 4 years back as part of a delegation and got a chance to visit LPU during that time. Realizing that India is in a very dynamic growth stage as China, I decided to pursue my PhD in India from LPU.” He further added, “I used to teach Chinese in my home university, (Yichun University, China) and now getting a chance to teach ‘Chinese language’ to Indian students is a great opportunity. Though Chinese is a very different language in comparison to Hindi and English, but teaching this language to the talented students of LPU will be a great learning experience for me.”

Head, Division of International Affairs (LPU), Mr Aman Mittal shares, “Internationalization is a very important aspect of any university and LPU already has 200+ tie-ups with leading universities across the globe.” He also shared, “Addition of Chinese language will help the nation and LPU to work more closely with China as well.”
