All of the diligence and dedication that a college student puts into the academics is finally rewarded on the ‘Convocation’ day. It is the day when students realize that they have successfully beaten the challenges and moved a step forward in their lives.

On 18th September, 19977 Regular & Distance Education LPU students of batches 2018 and 2019, 123 Academic Toppers and 51 Gold Medalists experienced the same as they were awarded their Degrees and Diplomas during LPU’s 10th Convocation at Baldev Raj Mittal Unipolis. The grand ceremony was chaired by Hon’ble Vice President of ‘Suriname’, a South American country, Dr. Michael Ashwin Satyendra Adhin. Stating his belief that “The whole world is one family”, he took the audience by surprise when he said “Ladies and gentlemen, Sabhi ko Sadar Saprem Namaskaar”. Hon’ble Vice President Ashwin Satyandre Adhin is a Surinamese educator, politician, and the youngest Vice President in the history of Suriname just at the age of 36 years. He firmly believes that culture has an important role to play in development and consciousness creation. He also said that common goals can be achieved if individuals participate actively and collectively. His enlightening speech was also a reflection of patriotism and cultural preservation.

The most interesting fact about him is that he is a Sanskrit Scholar and possesses a keen interest in the Vedas, the Upnishads, the Bhagwad Gita, and the Smritis. His entire speech was a mixture of English, Hindi, and Sanskrit, thus attracting everyone’s attention quite efficiently.
