LPU alumnus Mr. Hansjeet Duggal, who won the bronze at the 2016 Student Oscar in the Narrative category, visited the university for an interaction with our students of Journalism and Film Production. He held an exhibition of his 21 photograph study titled ‘For Love of Dreams: A Show of Aesthetics’, conducted a seminar on storytelling, and shared with the students his experiences on his journey from LPU to LA.

Duggal was also the 1st runners up at the Student’s Emmy last year and has rendered his skills to many Hollywood projects. He is in India these days for his next project on Virtual Reality.

In his photographic study ‘For Love of Dreams: A Show of Aesthetics’ he has attempted to capture and convey the diversity of the United States and the way in which the many different cultures therein coexist. A special mention must be made of the three photographs that appear in a sequence within the collection – these are Duggal’s three representations of the theater. He has colored the same image in three different ways; all three images are beautiful in their own way and are similar without being the same. This encapsulates the purpose of his project: objectively the United States is one thing…a particular landmass which, like other countries, has defined borders, a population of citizens, and a governing body. However, subjectively, it has meant so much more than that to so many people of different races, ethnicity, cultures, nationalities and religious creeds. It has meant opportunity and freedom and new beginnings to such a diverse international community that its own culture has grown diverse as a result. Just as each citizen of America with their distinct background can find something in its vast culture that means home to them, the United States finds something in each new citizen to love as its own.
