Dreams, a term known or experienced by almost every individual on the planet Earth. From the stage of “Ma! I dreamt of being Superman” to the phase of “I dream of becoming the best entrepreneur of the decade”, we all grew up. But dreams remained constant throughout the entire life. In today’s hectic life, we often end up compromising on our dreams and aspirations for various reasons. Even in today’s ultra-modern lifestyle, there are many families where academic studies enjoy an upper hand over all other passions, be it sports, music or anything. There are still parents who would say to their child, “You played cricket really well. Now go and solve 10 mathematics problems” or “You are a good musician but since you have taken science stream, you need to leave all that and focus all of your attention on solving questions of physics, chemistry, etc.”

There was a trend in the 20th Century that if you score very high marks in high school exams, you are made for the science stream. The mediocre students go for the commerce stream and those who have just managed to pass, are to go for the Arts stream. Although there has been a huge change in the technological advancement and modernization has revolutionized the mindset of the people, still, there are people who in the back of their minds carry a preconceived idea about their child’s career.

As the famous quote goes, “ If Sachin Tendulkar would have been asked to sing and Lata Mangeshkar were to be asked to be a cricket player, India would never have unearthed these maestros in their own genre”. So if you plan on becoming something, put all your focus towards it. The society will always be there to criticize you in your hardships, but your success silences them forever. If you want to be a DJ, singer, artist or anything that you aspire to become, make sure you come out as the best in it. There will be multiple failures on the day. You just need to use them as a catapult and propel yourself forward to your aim.

Dear parents, please don’t force your child to become what you couldn’t. Everyone is talented in their own ways. Be sure to guide them if they fall off track but let them pick their own tracks. When one falls weak, the parents become the strongest support. Let your child pursue his/her dreams because it is ultimately their lives which they need to live and don’t make them regret the decision of not taking their own decisions when they had the chance.

Everyone is special, and as usual, special things take time. Be patient and work hard towards your goal. Success surely kisses those who work diligently towards it.
