Committed to the philosophy, ‘Transforming Education, Transforming India’, Lovely Professional University – Human Resource Development Center launched short term course, ‘Pandemic Analytics using Machine Learning with Python’ w.e.f July 1 to 14, 2020.

The Course Convener, Dr. Sunaina Ahuja welcomed the Lead Instructor Dr. Lovi Raj Gupta, Professor and Executive Dean, Faculty of Technology and Sciences, Lovely Professional University, Co-Instructors Mr. Mani Kant Roy, alumnus of IIITM-Kerala and Ms. Jasmine Kaur alumnae of NITTTR Chandigarh, 75+ participants from all across India and international delegates from Germany and Bangladesh.

Dr. Ahuja stated the course objective as – empowering the participants with skill set required to decipher big data, prepare meaningful visualizations and predictive models especially in context of the global pandemic: Covid-19. She focused on the uniqueness of the course as regards its crafting, structure, authenticity of data set of COVID 19, hand holding sessions and awarding of digital credentials to make the course engaging and participative.

The Course Coordinator, Mr.Sarabjit Singh Kwatra, set the protocol by clarifying the expectations from the participants in terms of active participation, submission of Take Home Tasks, Minor Project and Major Project. He reiterated LPU-HRDCs training strategy of hands –on learning and full commitment to attainment of course outcomes. He acknowledged the contribution of his co-coordinators Mr. Ajay Sharma, COD – Corporate Training and Dr. Roktim Sarmah, Associate Professor, Mittal School of Business, LPU in launching the course.

Dr. Lovi Raj Gupta, known for his expertise in technology and innovative teaching style, explained the ideology of the course, gave a brief synopsis of contents , pedagogy and assessment strategy before delving deep into the concepts of Pandemic Analytics using Machine Learning with Python.
