Khushwant Singh once told Amrita Pritam that the story of her life was so inconsequential and tiny that it could be written on the back of a revenue stamp. 

On the fourth day of Natya Mahotsava going on at LPU, Vihaan Drama Works, Bhopal, staged ‘Amrita’. The play, directed by Sudeep Sohni was based on well-known poet and writer Amrita Pritam’s autobiography ‘Rasidi Ticket’.

Khushwant Singh once told Amrita Pritam that the story of her life was so inconsequential and tiny that it could be written at the back of a revenue stamp. Keeping this joke in mind, Amrita Pritam penned her autobiography and entitled it ‘Raseedi Ticket’, or The Revenue Stamp.

Pritam is considered the first prominent woman Punjabi poet, novelist, and essayist, and the leading 20th-century poet of the Punjabi language, who is equally loved on both sides of the India-Pakistan border. With a career spanning over six decades, she produced over 100 books, of poetry, fiction, biographies, essays, a collection of Punjabi folk songs, and an autobiography that were translated into several Indian and foreign languages.

Vihaan Drama Works brought the beloved author and her life journey alive on stage with their skilfull performances, a sophisticated script and inspired direction that had the audience spellbound.
