Every second of our life, we’re constantly speaking or babbling about something. It sometimes doesn’t even make any sense and despite knowing this we can’t stop. Whether it’s about the clichéd love life challenges or just telling your best friend how you turned off the lights successfully without getting up just by using a selfie stick!

It’s great to get your thoughts out and share your feelings with others, but trying to get perfect in this art of communicating we forget an important link to a great conversation – Listening! It’s a true fact that psychologically people tend to listen less and want to be the one who gets to speak. But listening is as important and we often ignore how powerful it is. Coaches, facilitators and great leaders are mostly people who are also great listeners. Those people are trusted more than others who listen more and chatter less. If you want to change the minds of people, the key is to listen. To sum it up – to increase your credibility, you gotta listen first!

Being a college student, you are absorbing everything around you and this phase of life will shape your entire adulthood. So it’s more important to let the world sink into you rather than you trying to fit in places which will not be beneficial to you in the future. To listen is also a great supportive activity which everyone will appreciate, most importantly when someone is worried or upset. It also shows that you respect and show empathy for others.

When you listen, you speak a really important message – You’re important and I respect you!
