Winter is Coming!

Oh! How I love the sweet cold fragrance that blankets over the world as winter calls from afar.

The slow fading of summer becomes more evident, as the days and nights passing by portray the indication of winter’s arrival. Summer’s heat will be soon be resting in oblivion, where it will lay dormant without our realization of its departure. Our old friend, the morning sun, will be long gone before we can even turn to say goodbye, no more a reminder of the fresh beginning of another day. Summer will be asleep for a very long time.

Winter is coming. I wish it would come sooner this year. Oh! How I love the sweet cold fragrance that blankets over the world as winter calls from afar. The assurance of the cold chilly breeze running down our spines, and the overwhelming presence of its power over the entire world.

The walk through the fog covered street with no visibility over anything and anyone, with just the sound of winter’s silence accompanying me. The dark empty streets taken over by the thick fog become a long journey home, hand in hand with the loving solitude that is winter’s gift.

The reminiscence of the chilly winter nights sitting on a sofa beside the fireplace, reading Sidney’s works of suspense with a cup of hot coffee makes me long for winter. If only it was possible I’d go into aestivation over summer, and only wake up to welcome the arrival of winter.

Winter is coming! And I can’t wait to sit around a campfire with friends and family, where we will play the 6 strings to the tunes that soothe and comfort our tired souls, and bask in the warmth of burning wood. I can hear the songs of the winter from afar, and it gives me the assurance of winter’s imminent arrival in our midst.

Oh! How I miss the cold chilly winter mornings. The snow covered lawns, trees, streets, roofs, and what not, just to remind us of the new day that lies ahead of us. To see children playing in the snow with much cheerfulness and love.

The season of joy and celebration. The season of Diwali, Christmas, and New Year..when families get together and love renews itself in resolutions. When the past is put to rest and new beginnings are gratefully welcomed. A season of cuddles, snuggles, deep sleep, great appetite ..a season of all things wonderful.

Winter is coming! And I’ll be wide awake to feel the initial signs of its arrival with much love and anticipation.
