Wouldn’t the night be safer if it were peopled by girls instead of boys?

“Why can’t I go out at night?”, she asked in despair. She wanted to enjoy some nightlife but her parents wouldn’t allow her too. “Because it’s not safe for girls at night, especially pretty ones like you…”,her mother smiled. “But what’s so unsafe? Bhaiya also goes out with his friends so many times…”,she was still confused, and a little defiant. “Bad things happen at night. Things we are protecting you from. People aren’t good out there. It’s safer at home…”, her mother reasoned. “Who are these bad people? Aren’t they also people like you and me? What’s the difference in being out at night and in the day?” “You ask too many questions, now go to sleep”, her mother scolded. “But who will answer my questions?”, she slept thinking.

A week later her brother was arrested for raping a girl on one of his nights out with his friends. Her questions were finally answered.
