Marking the first day after the auspicious celebrations of Thanksgiving, Black Friday is the biggest shopping day in the biggest economy of this world. The origin of this name for the day is debated till date and has more than one explanation behind it. Some say that this phrase was coined by Philadelphia Police Department as so many people went shopping and caused mayhem in the downtown area. Another explanation is that this is the day when retailers begin to turn the profit for the year and in accounting terms, positive amounts are shown in ‘black’.

Although this day is not announced as an official holiday, millions of employers relieve their employees and give them the day for shopping. Since 2005, this day has become a shopping sensation and people intend on grabbing the best deals from stores.
