Interviews are something where every student wants to give his/her best and grab a job. To succeed in an interview, there are various dos and don’ts which need to be followed. Some of the basic things that every graduate must know before attending a job interview are mentioned here:
Punctuality
The interviewer always wants their graduate to be time punctual. So make sure you arrive at the destination 15 mins early. If it is an online interview make sure you are ready with a good camera and network connection before the start of the interview. Arriving early also gives you the time to make sure you are all set for the interview.
Body Language And Attire
Although cold feet, nervousness, and anxiousness are common while attending a job interview, it is better not to showcase your low esteem once you get inside the room. Be confident about yourself and your work. Look professional and presentable. Do not doubt yourself during an interview. Listen to every word with concentration so that you don’t answer wrong. Show your enthusiasm and potential with courage.
Know Your Resume
One must be clear and confident about all the skills mentioned in their resume. Be prepared for basic questions asked during an interview beforehand. Project what you are best at by maintaining positive eye contact and base voice with the interviewer. Give examples of your achievements to highlight how good you are at work. Take full advantage of the opportunity and prove yourself.
Communication Skills
No matter how good you are at your subject, but to present it in front of the interviewer you should have good communication skills. Do not add additional information for every question, make your point straight and clear. Although words like “yeah”, “umm”, “kinda” might look cool but should never be used during an interview because it indirectly shows negligence in your words. Do not talk quickly or use slang words. Do not pretend to fake accents. Be yourself and speak with no fear.
After an interview, relax and stay cool. Whether the interview leads to an offer letter or not, know that it is an opportunity and keep trying again. Note the mistakes you made in the last interview and try not to repeat them in your upcoming interviews.
