Whenever I go home for my summer breaks, people always ask me questions about Lovely Professional University. Even freshers who are joining LPU have questions like, “How many classes do you have in a day?”, “Can we approach faculties for doubts after class hours?”, and “What more than normal classes does LPU offer in terms of academics?”
There are more such questions that are conventional for students who just joined LPU or who are planning to join. LPU academics differ a bit in comparison to other Indian Universities. So today I will make you familiar with the academics at LPU.
Multidisciplinary Basket: LPU has a fancy world of minors, electives, and departmental minors. Student can choose from more than 70 multidisciplinary courses. You can study the selected minor for the next two years. You can opt for a minor if you are interested in one path. A minor offers you four courses related to the path you opted. Else if the idea of studying courses from multiple streams makes you excited, then go for elective. A course from airlines in one semester and a course from health sciences in another is not only exciting but also expand your skills extensively.
Hands-on Projects: Learning is more fun and impactful when we implement our class lessons in real life. At LPU some of my favourite experiences include BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) classes and hands-on projects. They aided in better learning and understanding of lessons. Some live lessons that added value to classroom learning of LPU students include: 
- Solar Powered Car built by students.
- Race Go Carts build by Automobile Engineering students.
- Apps like Session Capture, LPU Touch, LPU Class Alert, and many such successful apps are build by Computer Science students.
- Herbal Cosmetic Products prepared by students from the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences
- A wireless sensor device, Flying Farmer, built by students from multiple disciplines.
Industrial Trainings and Tie-ups: Summers are the best time to make yourself industry ready. So the curriculum at LPU integrates industry internships, study tours, summer exchange programs with international exposure, and other academic workshops. Corporate exposure is an essential opportunity, thus university grants students with internships at various tech companies. Students from LPU have attained industry experiences from top corporates like Infosys, Hindustan Times, Cognizant and many more. 
University has partnered with Google, Microsoft, Cisco, Intel, Texas Instruments, BOSCH, SAP, Autodesk, National Stock Exchange of India, Glass Academy, UpGrad and other companies for immersing industry with the classroom learning.
Advising and Mentoring: No student at LPU have to go through the thick of the academic life alone. University has career counsellors who help students in career planning. They will help you make the best choices that fit your career. Break the ice sessions for freshers have been planned under a three-day fest Freshmen Induction.
