Writing is perhaps underappreciated with tons of articles posted on the internet daily on tons of websites. We’ll discuss some ways on how to write an article that stands out, entertains your readers, and makes them feel connected with you.
We have assumed that you already have a catchy heading that has compelled the user to click on your article. Unfortunately, it’s hard to tell in the beginning if the article is good enough and worth continuing reading. That’s where comes the first rule, Start Interesting.
How to start interesting?
There can be many ways to start interesting.
- Ask a question, make your readers wonder.
- Be mysterious, create curiousity.
- Start with a shocker.
- Basically, give them a reason to read on.
Break the monotony of the boring font
Hello! It’s not 2001 when the computer in itself was a fascinating machine. Your article should look like a “feast for the brain” with colours, quotes, bold fonts, italic fonts, bullet points, headings, and images.
- Colourful article with different fonts is attractive to look at. Yes, your readers judge your article by its looks.
- Bold/Italic Fonts and Headings make your article easy to read and more organised.
- Images make it colourful and amplify the message you’re trying to convey.
Remember the motive!
A school has blackboards and benches, a kitchen has utensils and a stove. The classes, benches, utensils or stove don’t mean much, but they all serve a bigger motive of making a school or a kitchen complete. Would it look good if a kitchen had study table?
Every single sentence and paragraph in your article should be written to serve the motive of your article. Don’t get drifted or carried away, or the purpose of the article won’t be fulfilled.
Brainstorm:
Before you start writing, think clearly what impact you want your article to create and what content you need to create it. Keep that impact in mind all the time while you’re writing. Ask yourself, is that sentence important in creating the impact you want to create? If not, remove it.
Prioritise:
As per the good old fashioned way, it’s good to divide your article into –
- Introduction(1 paragraph is enough)
- Stating data/facts/opinion
- Conclusion(1 paragraph is usually enough)
The middle part forms a link between the introduction where you tickled the brain of your reader and the conclusion where their curious questions have been answered, and the brain of your reader has been devoured by your feasty article.
Reminder: Not all articles need these 3, so don’t forcefully insert them in your articles.
Or, better yet, unleash your creativity, invent your own ways of writing that captivate your readers. And they’ll come back, again and again, to look forward to your next article. The chain of good and effective articles will bind your readers to check your posts regularly, hence, creating a connection between you and your readers. And always respond to comments to keep the connection strong.
