A delegation of senior officers ofMaruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL), led by Executive Directors Mr. T Hashimoto San and Mr. R S Kalsi from the Marketing and Sales division came to Lovely Professional University today. The delegation included Sr Vice President (Sales and Network) Mr. Partho Banerjee, and Commercial Business Head, Nexa, and Mr. Rohit Agnihotri. The visiting auto-industry stalwarts interacted with LPU students and staff members and shared the story of MSIL’s success and their great experiences of working and growth.
Lovely Group Chairman Mr. RameshMittal, Vice Chairman Mr. Naresh Mittal, and LPU Chancellor Mr. Ashok Mittal welcomed the elite visitors. LPU students too got a chance to accord traditional Punjabi welcome to the Japanese leaders from MSIL. Sharing Maruti Suzuki’s the vision with the audience, Mr. T Hashimoto said that Maruti Suzuki has always chosen to drives extra miles to achieve every endeavour it has undertaken. He said that the Maruti Suzuki team believes in, “Customer Obsession; Innovation & Creativity; Networking & Partnership; and, Openness & Learning. These are the features which I think should be followed to be leaders among others.”
In his welcome address Chancellor, Mr.Mittal said, “Being a part of the Lovely Group, I gained enthralling experiences working for our Maruti Suzuki dealership. I implemented the MSIL working culture, systems, IT support other characteristics of ‘Maruti’ towards the growth of Lovely Institute into the leading university LPU is today. So, a huge share of the credit for LPU’s success goes to Maruti Suzuki and its team. I feel honoured to share that the Maruti team amid us is responsible for taking Maruti to its position as one of the largest automotive brands in the country.” Mr. Mittal further said that the rapid growth of the Indian economy was largely owing to the automobile-sector, and fuelling this growth was the contribution of Maruti Suzuki.
Acclaimed innovator and the brainbehind Maruti Suzuki’s new venture ‘NEXA’- Mr. RS Kalsi shared his views on leadership with the students, “Leadership is not merely a position or a title. It is action and example. Leaders are not born as such, they get formed through hard work and sincere efforts”. Sharing his life experiences, he spoke to the students of the initial phase of his career when he was frustrated at being made to work on 25 machines for 6 months. But that much practical work enabled him to make 200 suggestions to his immediate boss for the improvement of the company practices. Mr. Kalsi said: “Our life itself gives us lessons on leadership. It follows in a pyramid form, starting from one highly capable individual to being a contributing team member, a competent manager, an effective leader to be ultimately a top-leader. One should always focus on basics and strong fundamentals. As per a great saying-‘who sees things in the seed form, is the genius’.
