The Human Resource Development Centre, LPU conducted a pre launch session on gamification just to give the intrested students and faculty a teaser of what to expect at the upcoming 3 day Gamification Workshop. Dr. Lovi Raj Gupta, Executive Dean, and a professor in Computer Science and Technology adressed the students and faculty of Computer Science and Engineering, and also students from other departments, about the new era of gamification and what is the real meaning of the term.
Gamification is the concept of applying game mechanics and game design techniques to engage and motivate people to achieve their goals. Gamification taps into the basic desires, needs, and impulses of the users which revolve around the idea of ‘Status’ and ‘Achievement’. “Gamification is not creating games”, he said. He went on to add that gamification is how we make people do what we want them to do. The three day workshop on the framework of gamification would let people learn the fundamentals of the concept and will steadily glide them to a state wherein one can think of crafting a gamification framework for anything and everything.
