HE V.P. Singh Badnore Released Dr. Hamdard’s Latest Album at LPU

His Excellency, the Governor of Punjab, Mr. VP Singh Badnore released Padma Bhushan Dr. Barjinder Singh Hamdard’s 8th music album, “Aastha”, here at LPU today. An august gathering from all quarters of the society graced the release-ceremony at Shanti Devi Mittal auditorium. All 8 compositions in the album are tributes to humanity, patriotism and goodness.  LPU students depicted deep seated emotions & varying praying moods, as conceived in the album, through mesmerizing choreography. Extolling diverse endeavours of Dr Hamdard for humanity, Punjab and Punjabis, not only in the state and the country but all across the globe, Governor Badnore acknowledged him as a powerful voice in Media, Music and many other allied fields.

Present on the occasion were Former Lt. Governor S Iqbal Singh, MP Naresh Gujral, LPU Pro Chancellor Smt. Rashmi Mittal, Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal, S Tajinder Singh Bittu, Sh. Sheetal Vij, Sh. Irwin Khanna, S Prem Singh Advocate, Swami Shantanand, Sh. Gautam Kapoor, Sh. Ramesh Mittal, Sh. Naresh Mittal, Sh. Ashok Mittal, , Bibi Inderjit Kaur, Bhai Ravinder Singh Raagi  and many other eminent personalities attended the launch.

Addressing the gathering, HE Governor Badnore said, “LPU students did a comendable job of giving visual expression to Dr. Hamdard’s melodies. This day has become truly memorable. Humility is the greatest part of Dr. Hamdard’s personality, all people should follow it.”

Dr. Hamdard, in his word to the audience, said,“Music is my passion. I have always been fascinated by music, since my very childhood. Although I was fond of singing right from my early school days, I could not pursue this interest seriously due to other responsibilities. However, I am blessed that music has always remained an integral part of my being and has never faded away despite my multifarious activities. I consider music the real food for a human being’s soul.”

The eight songs included in this album are: Hum ko man kee shakti dena; Garaj baras pyassi dharti ko; Ae maalik tere bande hum; Main tumko vishwas doon; Khud Jeeyen sab ko jeena sikhaayen; Sarfaroshi kee tamanna; Mera Rang de basanti chola;and, Insaan Kaa Insaan se hae bhaichara, yehii paigaam hamara. The music director of these songs is S Gurdeep Singh. The other seven albums since 2003 are Jazbaat, Aahat, Sijda, Khushboo, Shrdhanjali, Meri Pasand and Lok Geet, which contain old songs, ghazals, and other genres in the sublime and transcendental voice of Dr. Hamdard.

The founder-editor of Punjabi Tribune, Dr. Hamdard established new credentials as a journalist, and eventually became Editor-in-Chief of the Ajit Group of Publications. He has added new milestones at every step of his illustrious journalistic career. Embodying the subtle and complex narrative of human relationships, his creativity is instilled with brilliant imagination and facts, be it in his editorials, books, poems, songs or speeches.  Recognition of brilliant journalistic and creative works has decorated him with many awards including ‘Padam Bhushan’ by the Government of India; ‘Shiromani Patarkar’ by Punjab Government, ‘Special Award’ by Shiromani Gurudwara Parbhandak Committee (SGPC) and Honorary D. Lit by Punjabi University, Patiala. Dr Barjinder Singh also became M P (Rajya Sabha) in 1998.
