Give a man a fish, and feed him for a day. Teach a man how to fish and feed him for a lifetime.

The two syllabic word ‘teacher’ packs a wealth of memories and emotions for me.

As a child, I would always find myself crying when sent to school. New faces everywhere, and my old teachers not around. It came upon as a duty to my kindergarten teacher, to take me in and hope that today would be different for me. The difference – she handled 20 like me. She did a great job though, as by the end of one year, I’d sometimes end up calling her Ma.

Fast forward 16 years and a couple hundred teachers, each of whom had a different story to tell. When I first came into college, the first time away for more than a couple of days from my parents, I was introduced to a set of people in college who were assigned to me to change my life. And believe me, they did.

The 5th of September, isn’t enough to truly appreciate and applaud teachers. Is never enough to show them what they have done for us. No meager 24 hours could ever do that.

But here at LPU, we made sure that the 24 hours of September 5, 2016 would be unforgettable for our role models, our teachers.

At the Shanti Devi Mittal Auditorium, students and teachers gathered to mark this special day. They were addressed by Dr. Sanjay Modi, who asked teachers to be the inspiration that students look for, and Dr. Lovi Raj Gupta, who encouraged the faculty to keep up the phenomenal work they were doing.

The Chancellor and Pro-Chancellor shared words of wisdom that enriched and enthused the students present as well. A cultural show, marking the 15th Founder’s Day celebration and an Award Ceremony added to the fun and excitement of the event. The high note of the evening was the pledge all the LPU teachers took to uphold the prestige of their profession by teaching with dedication, and without prejudice.

The event was a massive success, with a turnover of over 2000 teachers, who for one day, wanted to celebrate themselves and the vocation they had taken up.
