Lovely Professional University organised the Business Summit-2016 in association with Jalandhar Management Association, on 24th Dec 2016. More than 30 SME delegates and office bearers of Laghu Udyog Bharti and PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry participated in the summit. Also in attendance, were Mr. Gurpal Singh, Dy. Director, NSIC (Ministry of MSME) and Mr. Opinder Singh, Director, EEPC (Ministry of Commerce and Industry).
LPU Chancellor Mr. Ashok Mittal and Pro Chancellor Mrs. Rashmi Mittal, along with the Deans and Heads of different departments, welcomed everyone to the summit. Executive Dean Dr. Lovi Raj Gupta spoke to the gathering about the university’s newly created Division Of Industry Interface, and about the university’s new initiative of an on campus project lab where SMEs were invited to set up live product development centers and R&D setups along with manufacturing facilities to bridge the industry-academia gap.
Mr. Ahsanul Haq, President, Jalandhar Management Association spoke about Industry-Institute partnerships and his hopes for the same to address the lack of employability skills among engineering and management graduates. He lauded LPU on its initiative of setting up a project lab inside the campus with support from SMEs, and assured the university of continued support in making the project successful.
Mr. Ashok Sethi, President, Laghu Udyog Bharti, Mr. Sanjeev Juneja, convener, Phd Chamber of Commerce & Industry, and Mr. Opinder Singh, Dy. Director, EEPC, all expressed their appreciation of LPU’s initiative and offered support to make the project a success.
In all, the summit was highly interactive and appreciated by one and all. It was a great step forward to help startups and self employment as part of the Make in India drive.
