“Our primary focus is on bridging the industry-academia gap and laying a strong foundation of job readiness in students. Such development programs are sure to update and upgrade teachers who in turn are to shape their students and their futures.”, Pro Chancellor, LPU
The Human Resource Development Center of Lovely Professional University organized a seven-day workshop on Research Methodology on the campus. It was attended by fifty two faculty members and research scholars from various parts of India, including Mumbai, Kolkata, Bhopal, Delhi, J&K, Punjab, and Haryana amongst others. Experts from various NITs of India, GNDU Amritsar, and LPU mentored the participants. Various research methods were deliberated in a blended pedagogy of input, interaction, and hands on practice during the workshop. Participants were asked to focus their research on areas that benefit the community, society, nation and the globe. They were also urged to use practical and live data in preference to hypothetical data. Each training day was divided into 4 sessions of one and a half hour each, in workshop mode. The last session was devoted exclusively to doubt clearing and practice.
According to one of the mentors, Dr Neeraj Kaushik, Head of the Department of Business Administration, NIT Kurukshetra, “The workshop proved advantageous for all participants as they were guided on how to perform statistical analysis, data and text mining, predictive modeling and decision optimization. Participants were trained to predict with confidence what may happen next so that they may make smarter decisions, solve problems, and improve outcomes. They were also informed about important software available as ready-reckoners to smoothen research analyses efforts.”
All the participants were appreciative of the effort put in by LPU in terms of learning environment, venue setting, infrastructure provided, study material, and content delivery. Participants were also impressed by the subject matter knowledge of the experts invited.
Talking about the workshop, LPU Pro Chancellor Mrs Rashmi Mittal said,“LPU is committed to providing excellent training opportunities to faculty members, students, and the teaching community as a whole. Our primary focus is on bridging the industry-academia gap and laying a strong foundation of job readiness in students. Such development programs are sure to update and upgrade teachers who in turn are to shape their students and their futures.”
