The fusion of the fashion industry and academia took center stage at this year’s ‘Miss Diva-2023’ beauty pageant held in Mumbai. Shweta Sharda and Sonal Kukreja, crowned as LIVA Miss Diva Universe 2023 and LIVA Miss Supranational 2023, respectively, walked the ramp adorned in capes designed by LPU Fashion Design students.
Sixteen talented students from LPU’s School of Fashion Design showcased their incredible creativity by designing exquisite capes for the top 16 finalists selected from a pool of 180 contestants nationwide. These capes, crafted by LPU’s fashion designers, added a touch of elegance and uniqueness to the pageant’s “Resort Wear” round.
The collaboration between LPU’s School of Fashion Design and the ‘Miss Diva-2023’ beauty pageant showcased a remarkable fusion of academia and the fashion industry. LPU’s commitment to providing hands-on learning was evident as its fashion design students created garments for models representing India on the international stage. This collaboration stands as a testament to LPU’s success in bridging the gap between education and the fashion world.
This collaboration marked the 11th edition of this renowned beauty carnival, which crowned two winners to represent India at the upcoming Miss Universe-2023 in El Salvador and Miss Supranational-2024 in Poland.
Spanning disciplines such as fashion and textile design, graphic arts, and visual communication, each student contributed a unique skill set and shared a strong passion for fashion. Together, they left a lasting impression on the elite fashion parade ramp. The rising fashion stars from LPU who participated in the event include Manvika Garg, Nikita Suthar, Sai Teja, Sukhmeen Kaur, Yashaswiini Gurung, Goury Garg, Jagjit Kaur, Jasmeet Kaur, Jasnoor Jaur Saini, Kriti Tiwari, Loveleen Kaur, Aastha Gupta, Aishwarya Laxmi, Amit, Ayusha Koirala, and Diksha Mehta.
Founder Chancellor of LPU and Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal, and LPU Pro Chancellor Rashmi Mittal accompanied the university’s fashion designers to witness the students receiving immense accolades for their meaningful ensembles from the top fashion enthusiasts in the nation. LPU also organizes its Annual Graduating Show, where top celebrities from the fashion and design world inspire and encourage students while showcasing the best creations.
The spectacular ceremony, held at The Lalit Mumbai a few days ago, saw Shweta Sharda, hailing from Punjab (Chandigarh), crowned as Miss Diva Universe-2023, and Sonal Kukreja from Rajasthan crowned as Miss Diva Supranational 2023. Trisha Shetty from Mumbai secured the position of Miss Diva 2023 Runner-up. Contestants from across the nation competed fiercely for the highly coveted crown. Esteemed celebrities from the realms of Bollywood, the fashion industry, education, and more graced the occasion alongside esteemed jury members.

These represent the finest expressions woven with exuberant creativity and determination.”
