“…hope needs tenacity to hang on to.”
Hope is what gives us the courage to stand by the truth. Hope sees us through tough situations, trials, and trying times. It also keeps us striving against impatience, and even despair. Standing in a long queue, inching towards closing time, it is hope that keeps us going to the window. But is hope an all powerful, freeing, emboldening, heartening emotion? No. Like all things worth anything, hope needs tenacity to hang on to. Hope is the weapon of the strong.
Talking about the image, it shows a light bulb which is glowing, but is surrounded by barbed wire. That is hope, it shines bright and dispels darkness but to hold on to it, one needs to brave the barbed wire.
The bulb also symbolises that to be a source of hope and strength to others, one must shine bright, even through the troubles strangling one.
