Styling seminar, by Anuj Lalwani, in association with Parcan Oleega, held at School of Fashion Design, LPU.
“First impression is the last impression. All of us are lost, but fashion is what brings us all together.” Says, Anuj Lalwani, an ace designer, a well-established name and a high caliber fashion stylist who has experienced and contributed to the entire fashion cycle for well over 17 years. An alumni of the prestigious NIFT, his superb eye for style, visual composition and his attention to apparel detail lend brilliantly to his creativity and overall model styling.
According to Anuj Lalwani, styling is an art and a stylist needs to have an eye for fashion. An eye for every minute detail. The courage to say a “NO” and the confidence to create histories in the field of fashion.
The 5 day styling workshop organized by school of fashion design was a huge success. The workshop started off with a bang, where the students were split into two groups and were given an interesting briefing by Anuj Lalwani about different body shapes which was very informative and the students learned the basics of how to style various body types and enhance the same.
Next day, once the students were familiar with all the basic body shapes they were directed about the entire design process and were asked to perform a styling show based on innovative themes and a fashion show was organized for the same. The students were found very logically dressed according to their body shapes which was again very interesting to watch!
Later, the seminar turned more fascinating and entertaining when the students were entrusted with an advertising campaign shoot for jewelry where they had to stick to the brief and follow the do’s and don’ts of the commercial shoot. The students were also provided with a professional make up team, Parcan Oleega , which in itself is a huge brand and also has tie ups with other professional brands like Wella (Germany). Mr. Johny also briefed the students about various make up do’s and don’ts to enhance their personal style.
There was a complete buzz, confusion, drama, passion and motivation. And to everyone’s surprise the outcome of the shoot was dazzling.
Consecutively, the students were also given a designer shoot to perform where in they were given garments designed by, Sidharth K Kakkar, a NIFT Graduate and whiz of ace designer Varun Bahl. The designs had basic kurtas, sherwanis and were all on the clean lines. Here, the students were already provided with the trend and inspiration and their task was to master the art of styling a designer wear according to the brief given by the designer. “Trends are the history we’re living in. And the students very well justified the brief and the garments given to them ”says, Anuj Lalwani.
Eventually, on the final day the students were asked to style each other according to their body shapes with reference to the themes provided without the guidance of their mentor and were also asked to do the entire look from the face to the hair personally.
Every gesture down to how exactly an accessory is to be worn and precisely which way the footwear is to be tied was planned out in advance by the students and nothing was left to chance. A professional fashion show was organized for the students by Anuj Lalwani and the school of fashion design in order to showcase the looks created by each one of them.
In the end students were spotted very confident and an extravagant change in their looks was spotted too. They were found bold in dressing themselves and carried the same with immense confidence. The same students who were hesitant to talk on the very first day were unafraid of facing a wide member of jury panel on the last day. Every student was found embracing what they have, however they are and dressing themselves in a way that got the best in each one of them.
Fashion stylist is one of the most popular and booming professions in the fashion world globally and is the job title of someone who exclusively selects the clothing and accessories for published editorial features, print or television advertising campaigns, music videos or any other public appearances. This workshop on styling with Mr. Anuj Lalwani has helped the students find their own personal styles and fashion to create an impact and moreover in aspiring to be successful fashion stylists.
A huge thank you to Pro-Chancellor Mrs. Rashmi Mittal, for providing us with this great opportunity and exposure. Many thanks to Mr. Sidharth K Kakkar, for bestowing us with such wonderful garments.
