Sustainable Poultry Production

Department of Agronomy, School of Agriculture under the aegis of Human Resource Development Centre is organizing a workshop on Sustainable Poultry Production and Entrepreneurship Opportunities in Lovely Professional University on April 27, 2019. Registration is invited from interested faculty members, staff members, students, external participants and LPU Alumni.

The poultry is one of the fastest growing, organized industry, which has the potential to fulfil the dream of doubling the farmer’s income as well as counter the malnutrition. The poultry meat and egg is a rich and affordable source of good quality protein and other important nutrients. Indian poultry stands 3rd & 4th in the world for egg and meat production respectively, but still, we need to grow threefold to fulfil the requirement. So, despite the exponential growth of the industry, we lack behind when it comes to processing and value addition. Only 10% of total meat and 5% of total eggs are being processed in India. It underlines the huge potential of poultry processing and forward integration.

The objective of the training is to update trainees regarding vast startup and entrepreneurship opportunities in poultry production/processing and also develop a skilled workforce.
