Union Minister of Law & Justice of India Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad reached Lovely Professional University, today, where he inaugurated two-day Science Communicators’ Meet. Occasion was on-going five-day 106th Indian Science Congress at Lovely Professional University. Addressing thousands of scientists, delegates and students on the theme ‘Communicating Science’ of the Meet, Mr Minister said “Present age is age of technology, information and communication and all three in combination are great power. Technology has enabled a virtual world which is not limited by geography or any boundaries; however, we should use technology for human good only.” Taking a simple equation “IT+IT=IT”, he said that it is India’s Talent (IT) and Information Technology (IT) that will jointly build India of Tomorrow (IT).
Upholding PM Narendra Modi’s added slogan “Jai Anusndhan”, Mr Minister advised to lay more stress on inculcating research spirit among all. Sharing, he also informed that Digital India movement will help in nabbing cyber and other crimes where culprits would not be able to hide their identities with usage of bio-metric implications. He also expressed pride on being at the LPU Campus and congratulated LPU Chancellor Ashok Mittal for the best possible way the education is being imparted to thousands of students in an environment of multi-diversity. On this occasion, also present on the main dais included Punjab Unit Chief of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Shri Shwait Malik, General President of ISC Dr Manoj Kumar Chakrabarti, General Secretary (Scientific Activities) Prof. P P Mathur, and LPU Chancellor Ashok Mittal.
Science Communicators’ Meet is held every year at the Indian Science Congress for understanding and promoting effective communication of science to diverse audiences. The specific objectives of the meet are: to bring different science communicators together, to discuss the development and optimum utilization existing & new media and arenas in order to strengthen the dialogue between the research community and the society.
