* MIT and Stanford university top in the list of the ranking
* THE’s ranking solidified LPU’s reputation as a leading educational hub for Interdisciplinary Science Research
Lovely Professional University (LPU) has achieved a significant milestone in the Times Higher Education’s (THE) Interdisciplinary Science Rankings (ISR) 2025, securing the 99th position globally and 6th in India. This achievement is particularly noteworthy, as it places LPU ahead of prestigious institutions such as Jamia Millia Islamia, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Panjab University, and IIT Gandhinagar. Furthermore, it is important to highlight that universities from 92 countries participated in this global ranking, underscoring the competitive nature of this assessment.
The ISR rankings, in association with Schmidt Science Fellows, recognize and celebrate universities that excel in interdisciplinary research, an area that increasingly drives scientific progress and innovation across the globe. The ranking particularly highlights disciplines like computer science, engineering, life sciences, and physical sciences, all of which are central to LPU’s research initiatives.
While globally recognized names like MIT and Stanford top the list, LPU’s recognition among the world’s top 100 institutions highlights its growing reputation in scientific research and academic excellence.
Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal, Member of the Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Founder Chancellor of LPU expressed his pride in the university’s achievement, saying: “LPU has always believed in pushing boundaries and breaking traditional silos in education and research. Securing a place in the global top 100 reflects the dedication of LPU’s faculty, researchers, and students. Interdisciplinary scientific research is the key to unlocking solutions that transcend individual fields, allowing us to address some of the most pressing global challenges. At LPU, we are committed to contributing not just to the growth of our university but to creating knowledge and innovations that benefit the entire world. This achievement motivates us to deepen our efforts in solving complex problems and making a meaningful impact on a global scale.”
The ISR methodology consists of three pillars, each representing a stage in the life cycle of research projects: inputs, process, and outputs. Each pillar is further divided into metrics to measure different aspects of that stage. LPU’s remarkable achievement is further proof of its ongoing efforts to provide world-class education and research opportunities. As the university continues to foster interdisciplinary collaboration, it is poised to play an increasingly important role in shaping the future of science and technology on a global scale.
