Computer networks have become extremely significant in our present-day society. A majority of companies depend on the proper functioning of their networks for communication, administration, automation, e-business solutions, etc. A simulation tool offers a way to predict the impact on the network of a hardware upgrade, a change in topology, an increase in traffic load or the use of a new application. CISCO Packet Tracer (CPT) is a multi-tasking network simulation software that can be used to perform and analyze various network activities. To upgrade the skill of Communication Network Management Using CISCO Packet Tracer, a short term course was scheduled by Human Resource Development Center (HRDC) and School of Electronics and Electrical Engineering was scheduled w.e.f. June 06 to June 13, 2022 to achieve the learning outcomes such as communication network management using CISCO Packet Tracer, implementation of various network topologies and creation of various communication networks.
Prof. Bhupinder Verma, Dean, School of Electronics and Electrical Engineering in his inaugural address emphasized the need of using CISCO Packet Tracer for communication networks. He congratulated the organizing team for organizing program on an agenda of Communication Network Management Using CISCO Packet Tracer.
The program was conducted by seasoned Subject Matter Experts. Dr Kamal Kumar Sharma, Professor, SEEE, LPU focused on importance of Communication Networks, Cisco packet & Networks and Network Topologies. Dr Manwinder Singh, Associate Professor, SEEE, LPU deliberated on types of communication networks and network addressing. Dr Charnajit Singh, Professor, SEEE, LPU emphasized on basic algorithms and strategies. Dr Akhil Gupta, Associate Professor, SEEE, LPU deliberated on networks for 5G and Dr. Shelej Khera, Professor, SEEE, LPU focused on network routing mechanisms. Participants were given individualized projects and the presentation of the same was done by the participants on the last day.
In the valedictory address, the program convener Dr. Sunaina Ahuja, Professor & Dean and Head-HRDC, LPU revealed the opportunity to upgrade career in Communication Networks with new aspects. She emphasized the need of starting industry-oriented courses and opening some platforms for entrepreneurs to learn about emerging trends in Communication Networks. She appreciated the Organizing committee, Resource Panel and the participants for working together on a futuristic agenda of Communication Networks using Cisco packet Tracer. She emphasized that the Short Term Courses organized as outreach training programs are envisioned to upskill participants of Lovely Professional University and public at large and this course was successful in meeting the said objectives. She also acknowledged the valuable contribution of the intellectual capital and appreciated the organizing team Dr Savita Gupta, Professor, HRDC, Dr. Kamal Kumar Sharma, Professor, SEEE and Mr. Sumit Shoor, Assistant Professor, School of Electronics and Electrical Engineering, LPU for organizing a meaningful workshop, successful in meeting participants’ expectations.
The coordinators of the program Dr. Savita Gupta, Professor and Head-Department of Faculty Development-HRDC, Lovely Professional University and Dr. Kamal Kumar Sharma, Professor, SEEE presented the Program Report by sharing the ‘THINK BIG’ vision of Lovely Professional University which empowered them to organize the Short Term Course on communication network management using CISCO Packet Tracer and congratulated the participants for successful completion of the program. Mr. Sumit Shoor, Assistant Professor, School of Electronics and Electrical Engineering, LPU proposed the formal vote of thanks.
