Dr. A. Senthil Kumar, serving as the Director of UN affiliated Center for Space Science and Technology Education in Asia and the Pacific and Ex- Director of Indian Institute of Remote Sensing, visited Lovely Professional University to address the Ph.D. scholars of Science and Engineering disciplines. He has published about 120 scientific publications in peer reviewed national and international journals. He presently holds the responsibility as Chair of CEOS Working Group on Capacity Building and Data Democracy and President of ISPRS Technical Commission-V on Education and Outreach for 2016-2020. He is also a recipient of the prestigious Satish Dhawan Award for 2015 and ISRO team awards for his contribution in Chandrayaan-1, Cartosat-1 missions and Calibration/Validation.
Dr. Kumar shed bright light on various hidden aspects in the making of a researcher. He grabbed the attention of all the curious and budding scholars by discussing some real-life challenges he faced as a scientist in Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). Right from the beginning, Dr. Kumar emphasized on the need of putting any research work at the service of society and nature. He earned many fans with his down to earth presence and an eloquent speech. The scholars confessed it to be a thought provoking and an insightful interaction with a personality of such high stature.
All in all, it was a worthwhile orientation session for our Ph.D. scholars by a Director of a prestigious institute of national importance.
