Going Home

With the end of semester exams right around the corner, I simply can’t shake off the excitement of counting the days to when the exams would finally be over, so as to be back where I belong. To be back to the comforts of my home, where family and friends await my arrival with much anticipation. A place where love is aplenty, friends are many, food is tasty, the mood is soothing, and the sense of belonging is profound.

In a week’s time I’ll be home, and I’ll be singing, for the season of joy will greet me. I’ll embrace the cold winter and rush towards the old places where bonds were made, and memories shared. I’ll be running towards those places where celebrations and laughter started, and I’ll breathe in all the joys and wonders again. I’ll be home.

Oh! How beautiful is home.

I still remember years back when a new day only began when mommy called out from the kitchen saying, “Breakfast is ready”. With much haste I’d get myself ready to start the new day on pancakes and home-made coffee. Rushing towards the door carelessly just to reach the park where my squad gathers on winter mornings. Playing around aimlessly and hopelessly till dusk came to be – a reminder to head back home in time for dinner. Winter nights at home were just as soothing and serene with my loved ones, where on the couch we would be seated embracing the warmth ignited by the burning wood. Oh home! I’ll be coming soon.

Times have changed and years have passed, but the longing for home still remains the same. Nothing can be ever compared to the comforts of our home.

“I have counted the days for far too long, now I am running out of days to count, and in a few days’ time I’ll be home”
