As the title suggests, it is a proud moment for all of us! Yes, you heard it right! The students of LPU are now going to perform on the most prestigious stage, the Kartavya Path on 26th January 2023 on the respectful occasion of the 74th Republic Day Parade to be held in New Delhi.
The LPU Bhangra team comprises students from various states and departments who came together to give a performance at the auspicious event which will be witnessed by the Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Honorable President Droupadi Murmu, and other dignitaries from national and international stages. LPU team received the honor to perform Bhangra by walking along the Punjab state tableau at Kartavya Path representing the entire state of Punjab and making our chests swell with pride.
The Bhangra team comprises students like Amritpal Singh, Aaryan Sharma, Onkarpreet Singh, Harsimranjit Singh, and Abhinav Kumar, and their coach and instructor Kamalpreet Kalsi who will accompany them in this massive fest. Well, as performing on a national platform sounds like, the selection wasn’t an easy process at all. They had to undergo a rigorous selection process at the zonal, regional, state and national levels to get selected for the ultimate level. The selections were conducted by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
The Ministry of Culture selected nearly 980 dancers from across the country for the “Vande Bharat Nritya Utsav” that is to be held on the Kartavya Path as a part of the cultural celebrations on the 74th Republic Day and seamlessly, the LPU Bhangra team has been selected for this feat.
On this occasion, LPU Pro-Vice Chancellor Mrs. Rashmi Mittal was delighted and congratulated the students by saying, “We all at LPU are feeling proud of this selection as it will provide a chance for our students to showcase the Indian culture, customs, and traditions.”
We congratulate the team for their immense achievement and wish to watch their performance wholeheartedly on this special occasion!
