The year 2022 has again proved to be a very successful year for Lovely Professional University (LPU). On a personal note, LPU Chancellor Dr Ashok Kumar Mittal became the Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), while the university and its students further ascended new heights in various domains. From illustrious global rankings, record-breaking placements, India’s largest number of patents filed, and working on various innovation & start-up ideas; there has been growth in each area of operation of the university.

On the placement front, LPU achieved record-breaking placement with a recent engineering graduate placed at Rs 3 crore annual salary. For the 2022 batch, the highest package for engineering stood at 64 lakhs. Despite a difficult market scenario, the 2022 highest package marks a 50% increase from the previous year’s highest of Rs 42 lakh. Setting yet another benchmark; 8400+ offers are extended to students of various programs of the 2022 batch, where 5000+ offers are extended by Fortune 500 companies. LPU students leveraged an unbeatable placement support system at the university and bagged dream packages in the world’s leading companies.

In the area of research, LPU has filed the maximum number of patents applied by an academic institute, as per the Office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trademarks (CGPDTM). LPU even outshined all of the IITs, individually.

In the rankings as well LPU is in the premier list of universities, which were ranked in the Times Higher Education Ranking list. Demonstrating commitment to rapid improvement year-on-year, LPU is ranked 74th in THE Impact Rankings-2022 among thousands of universities in 106 countries. LPU is even ahead of the top Canadian university, the University of Toronto, and all the participating IITs, IIMs and central universities of India. LPU is declared 23rd in ‘THE’ World University Rankings -2023, and also listed among India’s top 10 promising campuses for research innovations. Govt of India’s NIRF Rankings-2022 holds LPU 47th amongst all government and private universities in India. The Ministry of Education (Govt. of India) also selected LPU as a mentor institution for innovation and entrepreneurship.

For the internationalization of education, LPU collaborated with various top universities across the world, including the Goethe Institute Germany; the University of Helsinki, Finland; ESME School of Engineering, Paris; University of Winnipeg & Laurentian University, Canada; Aston University, the UK; University of Technology (Sydney) Australia; Accra Technical University, Ghana; University of Lodz, Poland; Rega Technical University, Latvia; Perdana University, Malaysia and more.

LPU also signed various MoUs on industry collaboration like with Epam India to establish a centre of Excellence for training in niche technology areas; Quantiphi for specialization in Design Science & Machine Learning; and, SatCom Industry Association for satellite communications.

Many of its students’ achievements are also the highlights for the year 2022. Major ones include that 12 NCC, NSS and Bhangra students have been selected for the Republic Day-2023 parade & celebrations. Continuing with its legacy of enriching the nation’s sports and cultural activities; one of its students is awarded by Hon’ble PM Modi for sports proficiency; Union Home Minister Amit Shah gave away Khelo India University Games’ First Runners UP Trophy; and, Chief Minister of Punjab Bhagwant Mann honoured LPU students with 2nd Runner-Up trophy for state’s inter-university youth festival. Moreover, with an LPU student’s silver medal, the Indian shooters contingent topped the medals tally in Egypt; and, two of its students have become the only Indians to get selected by ‘Baseball United’ for the American game to be held in Dubai in 2023.

University also saw some large-scale celebrations including the stunning performances of world renowned  Diljit Dosanj, Satinder Sartaaj, Gippy Grewal, Asees Kaur.  National-level competitions like that of Smart India Hackathon virtually addressed by PM Modi, EffiCycle-2022 were also organised in the year bygone. Motivational interactions of students were also held with many international /national personalities, you-tubers including Minister of State for External Affairs & Culture Meenakshi Lekhi, Key Policy player Shauraya Doval, Shark Tank fame entrepreneur Ashneel Grover, Aman Dhattarwal and more.
