The pandemic has changed everything. The daily routine, business, education system, everything! Every higher authority is trying to get all the things back to the way they were before the COVID-19. For the same reason, a session ‘Shiksha Samwad’ was organized by ASSOCHAM: The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India. In this session, LPU Chancellor, Sh. Ashok Mittal had a one-on-one discussion with the honorable Union HRD Minister, Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal. It took place on Saturday, the 11th of July 2020.
The session was to provide some insights on the existing online education system and to provide feedback or views if any. It started with Mr. Ashok Mittal felicitating Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal for providing a new vision to the Indian education system, allowing around 33 crore students to study from home. He thanked the minister for taking quick decisions that otherwise must have taken years to implement. He tried to take Dr. Pokhriyal’s attention to the existing policies which are somehow a bit strict and suggested for a group discussion with the representatives of government and private universities.
To this, Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal replied that he was trying everything plausible to get the education system back on track. He had asked for the suggestions of the authorities of more than a thousand universities and the principals of over 45000 degree-colleges, for the same. He further added that the new policies were made keeping in mind the goal of an easier education system. If there would be any strictness, it’s only to ensure that no loopholes were left behind.
These decisions for online education were of utmost importance. It ensured that the students don’t have to suffer major losses amidst the pandemic. ‘How it can be improved’, was the motive of the session.
