“Not Me, Not You, But We” – LPU NSS motto
On 18th September Lovely Professional University started its three day International Day of Peace celebrations through an NSS Rally and other cultural events.
Each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21 September. The General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples.The Day’s theme for 2016 was “The Sustainable Development Goals: Building Blocks for Peace.”
At Lovely Professional University, the highlight of the day’s celebrations was the visit of Honorable Minister of Finance Shri Arun Jaitley and V.P Singh Badnore Governor Of Punjab. They were welcomed warmly by the top leadership of the University while the students greeted them with a series of colourful and traditional performances that delighted the guests and audience alike.
After the cultural showcase, the visiting dignitaries flagged off the “Peace Rally” which was the soul of the entire event. The rally was escorted by NSS volunteers dressed in white tshirts bearing different letters of the word peace. and sporting paint on their faces. They marched together throughout the campus, the very personification of unity and strength, carrying placards that bore messages of peace.
NSS or National Service Scheme is a nationwide voluntary organisation that works to uplift society. The motto of the LPU National Service Scheme (LPU-NSS), “Not Me, Not You, But We” shined through brilliantly in the day’s events.
