Shilpa Surroch (B.tech CSE, Class of 2014) is the alumnus who brought laurels to the University with her captivating voice.
She is a rising playback singer celebrated for her voice in both India and abroad. She is blessed with a soul touching and a melodious voice. She was born in Mumbai and was brought up in Delhi. But she has her ancestries in Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh.
She started her journey in singing during her time at LPU from Virsa All India Inter-University (AIU) Auditions and brought fame to the alma mater when she was honoured with the title of Best Singer at AIU Nagpur. Afterwards, she started working with Punjabi Film Industry as a Playback Singer. She has also contributed her voice to the LPU Anthem, “We are the Vertos”. She has sung for OLX, India’s Best Judwaa and Myntra. She also gave voice to Super Dancer, a show by Shilpa Shetty. She is celebrated for being the voice of FM liners for Red FM.
Her original composition “Sona Nahi” was also applauded and brought big success to the show “Music Mojo”. Moreover, she has contributed jingles to the prominent brands namely Indiamart, Avon Cycles and many more.
In her auditions for “The Voice of India Season 2” aired on “&TV”, she withheld the audience and captured the heart of judges with her alluring voice. After being applauded by the renowned judges like Saleem Merchant, Shaan, Benny Dayal and Neeti Mohan; she is now working with the team of acclaimed singer Benny Dayal.
In her career as a playback singer she has contributed for Bollywood Movies namely, ‘Murari-The Mad Gentleman’ and ‘Game Over’. She is also giving her voice for an international film ‘Mirror Game’. She is the voice behind the title track of famous web series ‘Twilight’ and ‘Hadh’ by Vikram Bhatt. She recently recorded the title song for web series ‘Maaya-2’. She also performs gigs and recently performed for SPYKAR.
She was recently awarded the Best Singer Award by Indian Wiki Media for her song ‘Aye Ajnabi’ from the web series ‘Twisted’. She was nominated as Best Singer for Indian Television Academy Awards (ITA Awards)-2017.
She cherishes her family and LPU as her motivation and backbone for her successful journey in the music industry.
