Congratulations to the #LPUFamily on the establishment of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Chair for Studies in Global Peace & Equality at the campus to commemorate the 551st Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Jee-the First Sikh Guru. The establishment of the chair, done in an International Seminar on Peace, Justice and Global Harmony, enlightened the most important and radical social teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
Eminently present Chief Guest Sh. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Minister of Education, Govt of India, Presiding Officer S. Charanjit Singh Channi, Minister TE & IT, Govt of Punjab, Guest of Honor H.E. Mr. Reuben Gauci, High Commissioner of Malta, and Keynote Speakers Mr. Martin Singh, CEO Scotia Gateway Canada Incorporation and Dr. Gurinder Mann, Director Global Institute of Sikh Studies, New York, USA, graced the auspicious occasion.
Last year, embracing the teachings of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, on his 550th Birth Anniversary, Punjab Govt. installed a chair in the name of Guru Nanak Dev Ji at LPU. Lovely Professional University proudly became one of the 11 universities across the globe to have a ‘Chair in the name of Guru Nanak Dev Ji,’ endowed with research on the life of Nanak Ji.
In the seminar on the 551st Birth Anniversary of Nanak Ji, the keynote speakers addressed the fact that his teachings still prevail and have a universal appeal. They also appreciated the initiative of LPU to have studies related to Global Peace & Equality and stated that the university was on the path of Nanak Ji, who traveled to far off places and spread the message of ‘one God’ and that God resides in his creations.
The seminar also witnessed the book launch of Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, titled “Sh. Guru Nanak Dev Ji.” Talking about his book, Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said, people in today’s world should follow the teachings and idealize the journey of Nanak Ji in their life. And quoting one of the famous teachings informed by Nanak Ji, he said, all human beings can have direct access to God it is just that we have to treat every human with mutual love, respect, and equality.
