Lovely Professional University has been ranked alongside world’s top American Universities MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), Texas State and UK’s Lancaster University by internationally acclaimed Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2023. It has included LPU in the worldwide 101-200 Band, at par with these top universities of the world. Established in 1861, MIT has played a significant role in the development of many areas of modern technology and science in the world.
For Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) LPU is overall ranked 41 in the world for Zero Hunger; 77th for Affordable & Clean Energy; and, 97th for Decent Work & Economic Growth. LPU is also ranked 1st in India for five SDGs 2; 11; 13; 14; 15 of Zero Hunger; Sustainable Cities & Communities; Climate Action; Life below Water; Life on Land respectively. LPU also stands tall being 2nd overall amongst all Government and Private Universities of the country, with a score of 85.6.
Standing at the worldwide 101-200 Band, LPU has been ranked at par with MIT; Texas (USA); and, Lancaster of UK; LPU is also ahead of University of Ottawa (201-300 Band), University at Buffalo (301-400), IIT Guwahati & IIT Gandhi Nagar (401-600), and Tata Institute of Social Sciences-TISS (601-800 band).
Including thousands of universities from 112 countries/regions; the overall rankings demonstrate that universities are addressing urgent challenges.
Congratulating all the LPU teams for devoting their efforts to earn such a coveted ranking; Chancellor Dr Ashok Kumar Mittal invokes all to continue working hard to lead LPU to be at the top position in the world. Dr Mittal also shared: “This recognition reaffirms LPU’s commitment to continue to be an exemplary institution globe over.” Dr Mittal also mentioned that prior to this also, LPU has been listed among world’s top universities of the world, alongside Harvard and Oxford in the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI)-2023.
In fact, THE Impact Rankings are the only global performance tables that assess universities against the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It uses carefully calibrated indicators to provide comprehensive and balanced comparison across four broad areas: Research, Stewardship, Outreach and Teaching. The 2023 Impact Rankings is the fifth edition, where overall ranking is announced along with 17 tables showing universities’ progress towards delivering each of the SDGs.
