Just a few years ago our ancestors were still hanging and swinging from the branches in the African canopy. The rise from apes to humans happened swiftly. We developed straight postures, opposing thumbs also developed a change in the brain size.
Gradually, the humans started thinking abstractly, communicate complex thoughts and give-take information. As generations excelled things started to update. The invention of fire just fired up the development rate drastically. We started feeding ourselves efficiently and regularly. Hence the population growth. We started to communicate, developed languages, developed techniques and started using brain, like never before.
These thinking capabilities gave us the means to design new tech and implement for personal use. And then agriculture arrived. Population bubbled much quickly. The rate of growth was at a great peak. From the agricultural growth to the modern day industrialisation. From the early 5000 BC to World Wars. This is a giant leap of time. Considering the natural calamities too. This was a suffer-age for the homo-sapiens.
Interestingly, the growth we achieved in 200 years in those agriculture-oriented development days is now achieved every 90 minutes with the help of Industrial Revolution! In better words, the world economy grows every 90 minutes.
Even the present rate of growth will produce impressive results if maintained for a handsome amount of time. Also, considering the rise of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning the growth which happened in the past 500 years, is now achieved every 50 seconds. You see? The exponentiality of economy and growth is directly proportional to the brain and machine advancements throughout the history.
Well, the question is what are we trying to obtain from this development. What are the outcomes, what are the implications to these products, will Google become SKYNET, will we all become slaves to our own success? I don’t know, I haven’t figured that out. I guess it will be kind of awesome, about how the latest tech will influence us. Now there will be a silver lining regarding the comfort level and accessibility.
What frightens me is, these machines will lower the problem-solving capacity of the brain. The rate of growth will become stagnant. As then we’ll be having tools to solve problems. The economic meltdown will begin. The brainiacs will only work in the labs and research arenas. The brain will literally be minimized to do mental work. But, hasn’t it been the main basis of the development from monkeys to machines? “THE BRAIN”
This takes the toll of my thinking ability whenever I ponder upon this topic. I don’t know, but this sort of excites me. The expectations of the product fascinate me. This is our reality! *Fingers Cross*
