Lovely Professional University focuses on the all-round and holistic development of every student enrolled in the university, by giving equal chances of participation in co-curricular activities and study. Proration of Examination is the rule which makes sure that a student actively participating in co-curricular activities does not remain backward in the study.
Duty Leaves are given and certain academic benefits through the “scheme of proration” are given to the students who are striving hard to bring pride to the university, at different forums like sports, placement drives, out campus participation, organizational events.
Proration of CA and MTE will be done of the following parameters. Abbreviations used in the article are –
MO = Marks Obtained.
MM = Maximum Marks.
DL = Duty Leave.
- Proration of Continuous Assessment (CA)
- If a student appeared in any one or some of the academic tasks and missed all remaining, then that will be prorated based on marks obtained in the given CA.
E.g. – If there are total 4 CAs for course code INT-219, all with MM 30. You appeared in 1st and 2nd and scored 25 and 20 respectively, you haven’t given third and missed fourth due to DL. Then, Proration of marks against one DL = ((25+20)/60) *30 = 22.5
So, your total marks after proration = 25+20+22.5 = 67.5.
- If a student missed all academic tasks but appeared in the MTE, then that will be prorated based on marks obtained in the given MTE.
E.g. – If there are total 4 CAs for course code INT-219, all with MM 30. You haven’t appeared for first and second and missed third and fourth due to DL. You scored 30 out of 40 in MTE of the given course. Then, Proration of marks against one DL = (30/40) *(2*30) = 45 (2*30 because you missed 2 CAs due to DL with both having MM as 30)
So, your total marks in CA after proration = 45.
- If a student missed all academic tasks as well as the MTE but appeared for ETE for the given course then that will be prorated based on marks obtained in the given ETE.
E.g. – If there are total 4 CAs for course code INT-219, all with MM 30. You haven’t appeared for first and second and missed third and fourth due to DL. You missed MTE as well. You appeared in ETE and scored 50 out of 70. Then, Proration of marks against one DL = (50/70) *(2*30) = 42.85
So, your total marks in CA after proration = 43.
- Proration of Mid Term Examination (MTE)
If a student missed MTE due to Duty Leave but duly appeared in ETE of the same course then it will be prorated based on marks scored in ETE.
E.g. – If the MM for MTE was 40, you scored 40 out of 70 in ETE.
Then, Proration of marks against one DL = (40/70) *40 = 22.85
So, your total marks in MTE after proration = 23.
Scheme of Proration is only for Continuous Assessment (CA) and Mid Term Examination (MTE). No Proration is applicable to End Term Examination (ETE). If a student miss ETE due to duty leave then he/she will be given a chance to reappear for the examination in the immediate next term, and no reappear fee will be charged from the student in this case.
