Lord Dr Diljit Singh Rana applauded LPU’s mammoth educational endeavours

    British politician and Member of the House of Lords, Lord Diljit Singh Rana MBE paid a special visit to Lovely Professional University (LPU), where he interacted with LPU students of diverse streams. The occasion was a ‘Youth Talk’ show, specially organized at Shanti Devi Mittal Auditorium for thousands of new students to commence their academic journey on high notes.

    It was Lord’s second visit to LPU campus, where the first was made in 2012- ten years back. Seeing massive expansions at the campus, he exclaimed: “I am really glad to visit LPU Campus again. Since my last visit about 10 years ago, LPU campus has expanded with a lot more people and great infrastructure. I am very happy to see it.”

    LPU Chancellor Dr Ashok Kumar Mittal and Pro Chancellor Mrs Rashmi Mittal welcomed the elite guest at the campus.

    Highlighting the importance of digital communication in today’s era, and being an education propagator himself; he also expressed his desire to have involved and connected linkages with LPU. Interacting with the students, he invoked them to first listen carefully to their mentors, peers and seers and then to act as per the wants of the global industry. He also shared the eye-witnessed accounts of independence struggles in India, Ireland, England; thus, raising a sense of nationalism and love for the country among LPU students.

    The Rt Hon’ble Lord Dr Diljit Singh Rana is Member House of Lords, Westminster Upper House of Parliament, London, since 2004. Born in Sanghol (Chandigarh) India, he is presently president of the Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce &Industry, and India’s honorary consul in Belfast. Three Universities including Ulster University, Queens University, and West Bengal Engineering University have conferred honorary doctorate on Lord Rana.  He also aims to bring quality education to each and every one in the country and his native state in India.

    In fact, he was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for his contribution to the economic regeneration of the city of Belfast. Later, he was also appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to business and the economy in Northern Ireland. No doubt, he has raised fortunes on foreign lands and become a member of the British House of Lords; yet, he is a deeply rooted person for his motherland- India.
