LPU’s Baseball players bringing immense international recognition to India

* Grossing both international & national acclaims in baseball- considered solely as America’s favourite sport

* On the national level, LPU’s Baseball team (Men) is declared First Runners-Up at AIU’s All India Inter University Baseball (Men) Tournament 2023-24 held in Guwahati.

Baseball players of Lovely Professional University (LPU) are consistently claiming immense recognition, nationally and internationally, by displaying their high-spirited skills of the game.

Three of the baseball players at LPU- Akshay More (BSc Agriculture), Saurabh Gaikwad (Bachelor in Physical Education) and Akshay Mogal (B Sc Agriculture) have led the Indian team to a glorious victory at the Baseball United Dubai. This win has brought international recognition to India in this ‘Sport’. Being the exclusive Indian representatives at Baseball United, LPU students proved their mettle with relentless practice under capable mentors and top-notch facilities at LPU campus.

Baseball United Dubai had selected only LPU students from across India for Dubai Professional League-2023. Most of the players in this tournament, along with them, were from countries including the USA, Japan, and more. The League was held at iconic Dubai International Stadium, which has partnerships with baseball federations in 50+ countries worldwide. Prestigious and the first of its kind league, it catered to the Middle East & South Asia, in particular.

Congratulating the students, LPU’s Pro Chancellor Mrs Rashmi Mittal encouraged them to bring more and more laurels of international recognition to the university and the country. In fact, LPU’s these three sportsmen have broken America’s century old autonomy in ‘Baseball Game’.

Winner LPU students share: “it is an honour to win the classic world-game by playing at one of the world’s most storied stadiums. It proved an incredible launch pad for beginners like us. In fact, it was indeed a blessing to us from our LPU mentors. We will now be able to grow the game in the area as one of the pioneers of it, here.”

Recently, on the national level, LPU’s Baseball team (Men) is declared First Runners-Up at the prestigious All India Inter University Baseball (Men) Tournament 2023-2024 held under the aegis of Association of Indian Universities (AIU) in Guwahati.

Near 50 universities from across the country participated, where the University of Delhi finished third. LPU’s players are also appreciated as classic hitter & pitcher. Joint Secretary and Vigilance Officer (Youth Affairs and Sports), Association of Indian Universities, S. Baljit Singh Sekhon had graced the finale. In the AIU competition for the year 2022-23, LPU team had also earned the First Runners-Up award.
