Creating history once again LPU’s ace Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra wins Gold Medal to stand tall in the world

Just like Tokyo Olympics-2020 gold medal winning, and history creating in the domain of Indian athletics; LPU’s ace ‘Javelin Thrower’ Neeraj Chopra has won Gold Medal once again to stand tall on top of the world. This occasion was the World Athletics Championships-2023 held at the National Athletics Centre in Budapest (Hungary). Here, his record 88.17meter javelin throw secured top spot for him as India’s first-ever athlete to do so. Neeraj defeated his nearest rival athlete from Pakistan, Arshad Nadeem.

Sharing about his ‘success mantra’, Neeraj holds that in such big competitions, he feels more responsibility to perform well and in perfection. It is always kept in mind to give 100 percent and stay focused. This helps him in winning medals at tough international competitions.

Congratulating the ace-javelin throwing athlete, Founder Chancellor of LPU & MP Rajya Sabha, Dr Ashok Kumar Mittal expresses his immense happiness, and describes it as an encouragement to all men-women athletes of the country and the university to keep on persevering with their winning sports skills.

Neeraj has already been ranked World No. 1 athlete, as per World Athletics (men’s) javelin throw rankings. With 1455 points, Neeraj Chopra has topped the rankings, 22 points ahead of his immediate rival. Previously, Neeraj Chopra has also won the Jewel Association 2022 finals in Zurich, becoming the principal Indian competitor to win the esteemed Precious stone Association’ prize. He participated at the season-opening Doha Diamond League and won with a throw of 88.67 meters.

Prior to this, LPU’s sports persons have also contributed a lot to India’s winning performance at various national and international games, including recent World University Games held in China. Worth mentioning, LPU has a special scholarship scheme, mentorship and due honour for the eminent sports persons of the country. Many LPU students are now Olympians, international and national sports persons of top ranks including ace Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra, wrestlers, hockey players, boxers and more.
