Lovely Professional University, Human Resource Development Center, launched GURU-DAKSHTA: Faculty Induction Program (FIP)-2022 on May 16, 2022, with the vision of capacity building in world class research and professional enhancement. The 47 participants representing teaching fraternity of different disciplines from PAN India participated in the program. The resource panel has comprised a galaxy of fifty-one Subject Matter Experts from India and abroad.
The primary objective of the ‘GURU-DAKSHTA: Faculty Induction Program (FIP)-2022’ is to motivate the teachers to invigorate the learning process by embracing innovative research and pedagogic approaches. State-of-the-art techniques of teaching, research and evaluation, should be adopted in addition to imparting immense value to the skill development and understanding of the ever-changing dynamics between the local and the global. The major focus of the current program is centered on empowering the teachers to perform multiple roles of teaching, research, and service in a more effective and meaningful manner.
Guru-Dakshta: Faculty Induction Program (FIP)-2022 was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay Modi, Pro Vice Chancellor, Lovely Professional University. He addressed the audience on the theme Research, Professional Development and Academic Leadership. He highlighted the need for academic fraternity to adapt to the new normal by pursuing multidisciplinary research and ICT-based teaching, thus making a positive difference in the higher education ecosystem. He congratulated LPU-HRDC for organizing the Faculty Induction Program and inviting a rich pool of experts across the globe.
Dr. Sunaina Ahuja, Professor & Dean HRDC welcomed the participants and shared the program overview, participation norms and assessment criteria. She acknowledged the valuable guidance and patronage of Dr. Ashok Mittal, The Chancellor, Lovely Professional University, for providing the strategic vision, optimum infrastructure and resources for organizing such programs leading to faculty empowerment. The framework of the Guru-Dakshta: Faculty Induction Program-2022 designed as per UGC Guidelines (2019) was explained. The training strategy aimed at giving an immersive experience through enriched knowledge, skills and experiential learning (Do It Yourself mode). Dr. Ahuja appreciated the Program Coordinator Dr. Savita Gupta, Professor and Head-Department of Faculty Development, HRDC for planning and organizing the FIP with a comprehensive and meticulous approach, resulting in tangible outcomes such as drafting research papers, curriculum design, innovative teaching practices, psychological well being, strengthening constitutional values and working towards sustainable development goals.
Dr. Jasveen Kaur, Senior Faculty and Former Chairperson-Head, University Business School-UBS, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar deliberated on the protocols for preparation of Title and Abstract of Manuscript. She shared her vast publication experience in reputed national and internal journals and answered the participants queries with utmost diligence. The hands-on session facilitated the participants to craft an Extended Abstract, which they were required to submit later as a part of the program.
Mr. Sarabjit Singh Kwatra, Dy. Dean (HRDC) highlighted the major themes to be covered in the program 1. Research, Professional Development and Academic Leadership 2 Higher Education and its Ecosystem 3. Curriculum Designing, Outcome Based Learning and Choice based Credit System 4. Teaching, Learning and Assessment 5. Technology for Teaching and assessment of I-generation 6. Personal-Emotional Development and Counselling 7. Academic Integrity 8. Constitutional Values, Human Rights & Fundamental Duties 9. Environmental Consciousness and Sustainable Development Goals 10. Strategic Planning and Management.
The sessions were conducted in a participative environment giving opportunities for open discussion, brainstorming and hands-on learning. The participants were appreciative of the gesture shown by the Lovely Professional University offering a comprehensive curriculum, learner-centered pedagogy and a diverse set of subject matter experts to share live examples and experiences for the benefit of one and all.
