Dr. Mohanty is the president of the Indian Association of Physiotherapists and so far he has trained 15,000+ physiotherapists around the globe in manipulative therapy.
The School of Physiotherapy and Paramedical Science of Lovely Professional University organized a Manual Therapy workshop. The founder president of Manual Therapy Foundation of Mangalore, Dr. Umasankar Mohanty came to address and train all physiotherapy students studying at LPU, from Zambia, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, India and Cameroon. LPU Executive Dean Dr. Lovi Raj Gupta and Senior Dean Dr. Monica Gulati welcomed Dr Mohanty to LPU and advised students to learn well from the master of the trade. Dr. Mohanty is also the president of the Indian Association of Physiotherapists and so far he has trained 15,000+ physiotherapists around the globe in manipulative therapy.
Students were trained to improve mobility in the areas of ‘Vertebral Column and Pelvic Complex’ by applying careful manual force. In this workshop Dr, Mohanty imparted training how to give instantaneous relief to the patients in cases of mechanical problems of joints, muscles, ligaments, and nerves. He also explained practically how it can be very useful for mechanical low back pain, the most common problem next in frequency to common cold. He also students on effective manual treatments in cases of disc prolapse, neck pain, thoracic pain, pelvic region pain, shoulder pain, knee pain, ankle injuries, hand pain, stiffness and head-ache.
Dr Mohanty informed the students, “Manual Therapy is a specialized advanced branch of Physiotherapy which propagates accurate and specific application of manual force to the body to improve its mobility. This force can be applied in areas including joints, connective tissues or skeletal muscles. It is a bio-mechanical based approach and corrects the problems from the cause with application of mechanical forces by a skilled hand.” Prior to this, welcomed Dr Mohanty at the campus, and advised students to imply the learning from great manual therapist of India in the professional phase of their life. Dr Mohanty is also the president of the Indian Association of Physiotherapists. So far he has trained 15,000+ Physiotherapists around the globe in manipulative therapy.
