‘Istifa’ – a short film, made by a group of LPU students, right here, on the university campus was shortlisted for the Jaipur International Film Festival (JIFF) recently. Loveena, Stalin Yumlembam, Narayan Dev, and Sandeep Kaur, put together a brilliant film that was both artistically appealing and emotionally challenging.
‘Istifa’ is the tale of a depressed young girl, struggling at the job of living, a job that she finally quits. Her ‘Istifa’ is a question raised about depression and the help provided to people fighting it. It is a tremulous rejection, barely voiced, of existing because you must. In a few short minutes, it lays bare to the viewer, the hopelessness of a mind that can see in stark relief, exactly what is missing, what is lost, and may never be regained.
Great work guys! Definitely one to be proud of.
