Human Resource Development Center, and School of Computer Science and Engineering, Lovely Professional University organized an Online Faculty Development Program, titled ‘Introduction to software testing techniques and open source testing tools’ on May 19, 2020. The program focused on making the participants familiar with open-source testing tools, Basics of Software Testing Techniques, Levels and Test case generation. Dr. Parampreet Kaur, Assistant Professor, School of Computer Science and Engineering was invited as the Subject Matter Expert.
Dr. Sunaina Ahuja, Professor, Associate Dean & Head – Human Resource Development Center setting the context remarked that Testing is the first step in determining the quality of software. She mentioned about availability of various portable frameworks for testing software and web applications. She welcomed the participants and Resource persons and wished the FDP a great Success. The FDP consisted of two sessions of 90 minutes each.
The first session focussed on Introduction to Selenium installation and configuration of Selenium in JAVA environment and Test case creation and execution using selenium web driver. The participants learnt various ways to perform automated testing using selenium. In the mean time they got hands on practice on some Selenium web driver practical implementations. Dr. Parampreet Kaur explained the steps to download software (Latest Java/Eclipse IDE) needed to perform testing. In the second session the resource person introduced the participants to other open source test automation tools (APPIUM, TestNG) and Comparative Analysis of various software testing tools.
The program received active participation of faculty members all across the University. The participants were appreciative of the efforts of Human Resource Development Center for organizing the FDP .The Subject Matter Expert was appreciated for presenting a very relevant topic in an interactive way.
