“LPU can be among the Top 100 Universities of the World” – AICTE Chairman

Prof. Sahasrabudhe recommended that teachers strive to be one step ahead of today’s tech savvy students and prepare their young minds on multi-disciplinary levels to meet the market need of knowledge as an integrated whole.  

Chairman, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Prof. Anil Dattatraya Sahasrabudhe visited Lovely Professional University.He was invited to be the Chief Guest at the inauguration of the new Human Resource Development (HRD) Center at LPU, opened by the university to provide world class training to staff-members. 

Prof. Sahasrabudhe has had an illustrious career of three decades as an educator and has won several awards for leadership and innovative acumen in the area of technology development and entrepreneurship initiatives. Prior to his joining as AICTE Chairman,  has held numerous important academic, research and administrative positions. He was scientific officer at Indian Institute of Science (Bangalore), served as Assistant/Associate Professor at North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (Arunachal Pradesh), IIT Guwahati, and as Director, College of Engineering Pune. In connection with his various academic and research activities he has also visited many international universities in USA, Germany, Canada, France, China, Switzerland, Netherlands, Turkey, Singapore, Malaysia, Dubai and Sri Lanka.

 “I am happy to share that the entire LPU community is ecstatic at this chance to learn from a great educator like Prof. Sahasrabudhe.” , Chancellor Mr. Ashok Mittal said as he welcomed Prof. Sahasrabudhe and introduced him to the 2800 strong crowd, comprising Heads of Faculties, Schools, Divisions, Departments, Members of Teaching, Administrative and Technical wings. 

Addressing the faculty and staff members on ‘Educating the 21st Century Educators’, Prof. Sahasrabudhe urged them to keep incorporating new technological advancements into the teaching and training undertaken at LPU.  He recommended that teachers strive to be one step ahead of today’s tech savvy students and prepare their young minds on multi-disciplinary levels to meet the market need of knowledge as an integrated whole. 

Talking about higher education in India, AICTE Chairman said, “No doubt, we have made great strides, but we’re still significantly lacking on the international level. There are many major challenges before us, but nothing is impossible. With passion, commitment, hard work and perseverance everything is possible. Presently our mission is to see 20 universities of India (10 each Government & Private) to be included among the top 100 universities of the world, and one of these can be LPU.”

Prof Sahasrabudhe also laid stress on transformingthe prevalent examination system, and developing a strong industry-institution interaction. He informed the crowd that his department had already decreed that 20% of faculty at every professional institution should be from the industry.

He closed his fascinating two hour lecture with a request to all faculty to be role models to their students and infuse young hearts with moral courage by exhibiting examplary behaviour.
