The cultural aspects at LPU have diversified over the years with students and alumni reaching heights with their cultural talents like singing, dancing, and acting. We have seen numerous stars from LPU who have surfaced in various music videos and reality shows showing their talents off on a professional stage. Achievements like Yadvender Singh getting recognized internationally by the Marvel studios for digital illustrations, Osheen Rajpal becoming the Best Debutant actress, and winning the Dada Saheb Phalke Golden camera award for the same, Karunakar Reddy working as Assistant Director in Pushpa: The Rise- Part 1, and a lot more.
LPU gives a wide platform for students to excel in the Department of Performing Arts by offering courses in music, theatre, and others as well as giving opportunities to other students in the Division of Student Welfare (DSW) to participate in dance, singing, and theatre-based competitions. The cultural programs of LPU like “One India” and “One World” are recognized all over with students from other universities cherishing and participating in them.
Naiqra, who was a B.Tech. CSE student at LPU and currently a member of the LPU Alumni Association was passionate about her singing since the first day itself and has taken part in various competitions during her time. She has covered the famous Punjabi song “Laare” sung by Maninder Buttar starring Sargun Mehta uploaded by BackYard Studios having over 16 thousand views. She continued her passion for singing ever after she graduated from the university and has now got an incomparable opportunity to get starred opposite a famous Punjabi artist and singer Parmish Verma in a music video titled “Rulawange”.
The song is sung by Naiqra and features both Parmish and her on YouTube. The song has been uploaded by Speed Records on 28th March 2022 and now has over 27 lakhs and 60 thousand views and 49 thousand likes in a span of just two months. The lyrics and composition of the song have been done by Diljan with music given by Quan and presentation by Umesh Karmawala. Parmish Verma has starred in many famous Punjabi songs like “Behri Duniya’, “Gaal Ni Kadni”, “Sab Fade Jange”, “Ja Ve Ja” etc. all of which have lakhs and crores of views on YouTube.
Starring opposite such a famed artist is itself a great achievement for Naiqra and we hope it’s just the beginning for her and she has more success and huge offers waiting for her in the backyard.
