Hon’ble Union Finance Minister, Mr. Arun Jaitely visited the LPU campus on 18 September 2016 for the inauguration ceremony of the LPU Startup School. He also inaugurated the 3 day International Day of Peace celebrations by unveiling the emblem of World Peace. The emblem consisted of a globe and pigeon on one side and the symbol of peace on other side. A cultural showcase was organised by LPU students to uphold the spirit of World Peace.
Governor of Punjab, V P Singh Badnore, also presided over this occasion and motivated students and staff members. The event started with a two minute silence that was observed to pay homage to Indian soldiers who were martyred at Uri, J&K, on 18th September, in a terrorist attack.
While addressing the LPU students and staff members, Mr. Arun Jaitley motivated the students to adopt startups saying, “This is the right age for you to possibly lead the world.” He also added that LPU has realised this fact and has come up with the StartUp School for innovative students.
He also cited examples of countries like US, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan to explain how these countries excelled in technology and research, and how they used their dosmetic market to target and grow global.
Lauding LPU as a great private university, Mr.Arun jaitley put his belief in LPU and said,”Indian private universities will surely take a as prominent a place in the education sector as the US has.”
